Ficam Phase-Out: What Pest Controllers Need to Know

Monday 20/01/2025

As of January 25, 2025, the use of Ficam D for controlling ants, wasps, and hornets is no longer legally permitted. Pest controllers must take immediate action to comply with regulations and transition to alternative products.

What Was Ficam D?

Ficam D, a trusted dustable powder containing Bendiocarb, has been a go-to solution for pest controllers for over 40 years. It was highly effective in controlling ants and destroying nests of wasps and hornets, including the invasive Asian Hornets.

Despite investments and adaptations, such as updated labelling in 2020, new BPR (Biocidal Products Regulation) registrations have made it unsustainable to keep products like Ficam D on the market.

Why Is Ficam D Being Phased Out?

The last date Ficam D was able to be sold was July 29, 2024. The discontinuation is part of broader efforts to align pest control products with updated regulatory standards under BPR.

These changes aim to ensure product safety, protect the environment, and promote sustainability.

Alternatives to Ficam D:

The phase-out of Ficam D may feel daunting, but there are effective alternatives to ensure pest controllers can continue their essential work.

PestFix offers an extensive range of insecticide sprays, powders, aerosols, and innovative products to keep pest controllers equipped and effective. Examples include:
